About Us

Since 1946

Founded in 1946 by brothers Herb and Bob Lock and incorporated in 1973, Lock Steel Building has remained a family-owned metal building construction leader in Missouri and throughout
the Midwest. Lock Steel Building Company, Inc., is proud to celebrate their 75 year anniversary in
2021. In 1971, Herb’s son, Don, joined the business and led with his knowledge and expertise for over 35 years. In 2000, Don’s son, Matt, accompanied his father and gained the experience passed on from the previous generations.  Today, Matt Lock, grandson and nephew of the founders, oversees the day to day operations.

Though the majority of our work is located within a 100-mile radius, many customers’ needs have sent the company across the nation. Lock Steel Building is proud of the nearly 2000 clients and relationships that have been developed.
Lock Steel’s core values have always included integrity, trust, communication, and consistency. These values are shared by their trusted and appreciated erectors and trade partners, with most relationships spanning multiple decades. Lock Steel has been an independent Authorized Varco
Pruden (VP) Builder since 1984.

Lock Steel maintains membership in MBCEA (Metal Building Contractors and Erectors Association)
and routinely serves on industry advisory councils. This allows Lock Steel to stay on top of an
ever-changing industry and always be up-to-date on new products, methods, and safety.
